Y&R Casting Shocker: Soap Vet Roger Howarth Joins Show in Mystery Role

Now comes word that the daytime drama is also calling on the talents of soap vet Roger Howarth, who most recently played Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt on GH.

Another Y&R Casting Coup

Deadline was the first to report the casting news. According to the outlet, Howarth will be “part of a major story arc this fall.” There was no word on who the iconic soap actor would play or which story he would impact.

Howard’s arrival on Y&R means a homecoming of sorts. From 2001 to 2010, he played the devious Paul Ryan on As the World Turns. Paul was Barbara Ryan’s son.

Actress Colleen Zenk played Barbara. Zenk most recently did a couple of stints on Y&R as Claire’s crazy Aunt Jordan, who made life hell for the Newmans and teamed up with fellow villain Ian Ward.

On GH, the Daytime Emmy winner played a few different incarnations, including Austin Gatlin-Holt. He left the show in 2023 when his character was shot dead.

Arguably, his most famous and infamous role was as the villainous Todd Manning, a character he played off and on from 1993 to 2013.

Howarth’s primetime credits include Dawson’s CreekCalifornication, and The Flash. On Instagram, Howarth kept the mystery going with a photo where he has his fingers crossed that states, “Excited and appreciative… I’m a lucky guy…”

Fans are probably thinking that they’re the lucky ones right now, considering Howarth is about to appear on daytime TV once again.
