‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers confirm Matt Cohen, who played Griffin Munro on General Hospital, has joined the cast of Y&R.

This shocking casting news comes hot on the heels of the announcement about Tamara Braun, who also played Carly Corinthos on General Hospital, Dr. Kim Nero, Ava Vitali, and Taylor Walker, as well as Ava Vitali again on Days of Our Live.

Braun is joining Y&R as a mysterious new character named Sienna Bacall, with connections to several characters on the show.

We also learned last week that Roger Howarth, who played both Franco Baldwin and Austin Gatlin Holt on General Hospital, will be joining Y&R as well.

Then, we also found out this week that Lucas Adams, who played Tripp Johnson on Days of Our Lives, will join Y&R as the new Noah Newman.

We are curious about what exactly has inspired Y&R’s recent casting spree of General Hospital and Days of Our Lives actors and actresses.

Cohen first appeared on the soap scene in 2016, debuting on General Hospital as Griffin. One of his love interests on the show was Kiki Jerome, played by Hayley Erin.

GH fans may also recall that Griffin was in a controversial love triangle with Kiki and her mother, Ava Jerome (Maura West).

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Cohen’s First Y&R Airdate Is On October 16th

During the time he worked with Maura, he spoke highly of the actress and shared his thoughts with Digital Journal.

“The ability to work with Maura is always a dream. She is always thumping in my heart. Her character, Ava, was my life there, and she was literally my sanity at that exact moment. She kept me alive and well on that set, he gushed.

He continued, “Maura just shows up and she’s a strong performer. She is what you call a bada**. She is all encompassing of everything it takes to be, shine, and thrive in the entertainment business.”

Of course, Hayley now plays Claire Newman on Y&R. Cohen’s Griffin was a priest/doctor, and he exited GH in 2019. His character wanted to leave Port Charles to grieve Kiki, who was tragically murdered.

Cohen’s first airdate on Y&R will be on October 16th in the role of Detective Burrow. Y & R is replacing Detective Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd).

Recently, the show unceremoniously killed off Chance, a legacy character, sparking intense outrage from fans.

Fortunately, Conner Floyd joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Chad DiMera. Ironically, it’s the role that Billy Flynn just left for his new role as Cane Ashby on Y&R.

Apparently, Matt Cohen will play the new detective, who will be at the center of investigating a case involving several key characters. We have to wonder if this involves Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and his corporate dealings in Genoa City.

We can only imagine what a wild reunion it will be for the GH and Days actors when they arrive in Genoa City. We have a feeling their stories may connect, which would be a lot of fun.
