SO SAD: Sam’s Heartbreaking Pre-Surgery Scenes – Scout’s Final Memory of Mom! General Hospital Prepares to Say Goodbye Sam’s!
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Scout Quartermaine’s (Cosette Abinante) fears may creep in again as Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) transplant surgery draws near. When Scout first learned about the procedure, she became concerned about her mom and whether she’d be all right.
Of course, both Sam and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) gave Scout plenty of reassurance.
Dante and Sam don’t know what fans are unfortunately very aware of – and that’s the fact that Sam’s about to face a grim fate.
The show obviously wanted to lean into that a bit by having Scout show some trepidation about Sam’s part in all this.
It’s good that Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) is getting the liver donation she needs, but it could come at a great cost to Sam and her loved ones.
During the week of October 21-25, Sam will be admitted to GH and will prepare for her upcoming procedure.
There’ll be some heartbreaking pre-surgery scenes with Sam in her hospital bed while Scout’s all cuddled up next to her.
Scout won’t know it yet, but it looks like she’ll be making her final memory with her doomed mom!
This should be GH’s way of letting Scout and Sam have some version of a farewell.
Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) will also be there to give Sam support and express how proud she is of her daughter.
Sam and Alexis didn’t always get along, but they confess how grateful they are that they found their way to a solid relationship.
This may be the show’s final opportunity to play up the family bonds here since Sam’s about to lose her life.
We’ll see if Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) get a chance to make amends with Sam before the procedure or not.
It’ll eventually be time for Sam to head to the OR, but will she make it out of there alive?
Something may go wrong and lead to Sam perishing right there on the operating table.
However, there’s also been buzz about Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) making a bold move after Sam’s surgery is over with some fatal IV bag tampering.
Either way, it’s going to be devastating for Sam’s loved ones when she doesn’t come home following this transplant.

The week of October 21, General Hospital heroine Sam McCall is set to go under the knife in order to donate part of her liver to boyfriend Dante Falconeri’s former wife, Lulu Spencer. If Sam makes it out of surgery alive, she won’t be staying that way for long.
In late August, the news broke that Kelly Monaco had been let go by ABC’s soap after 20+ years in the role. Why? Unclear. Some fans speculated that she hadn’t been willing to take the cut in pay or guaranteed number of episodes that was being implemented by parent company Disney across the board. But Soap Opera Network reported that she said, “I took the cut.”
In October, Monaco linked her exit to that of the late Billy Miller as Drew Cain in 2019. When he “was fired,” she Instagrammed, “Sam’s storyline stopped. Stripping Sam of every characteristic she had. Something I worked for decades to build… Slowly dismantling her, into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience.
In a photo from the episodes to come, Sam spends some quality time with mom Alexis and daughter Scout before undergoing the procedure that is needed to save Lulu (soon to be played by All My Children vet Alexa Havins). Something tells us that the emotion on Monaco’s face wasn’t all scripted.
