Shocking Reveal: The Real Reason Rena Sofer Wants to Retire – Leave GH Forever

Rena Sofer may be saying goodbye to GH

All good things must come to an end, and a popular soap character may be walking away from daytime for good. Soaps in Depth recently reported that Rena Sofer plans to semi-retire and permanently move to the East Coast.

The actress who portrayed Lois Cerullo in General Hospital shared her decision in an interview with Women’s World Magazine.

She's Outta There: What General Hospital Scene Stealer Rena Sofer's Move Does — and *Doesn't* — Mean for Lois

Sofer and her husband, Sanford Bookstaver, had divorced but remarried last year. She says they desire to build a dream home where they can live and never have to move.

If she remains on the East Coast, she would more than likely be taking jobs filmed in that location rather than traveling across the country.

Lois will soon be in the hot seat

Lois is in the middle of a front-burner storyline, so if her time in Port Charles is coming to a close, she will probably go out with a bang.

On Friday, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) confronted Brooke Lynn Chase ( Amanda Setton) about not telling Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) she gave birth to his child and put the baby up for adoption.

Dante and BLQ went to the same summer camp as Cody Bell (Josh Kelly). He may also catch some heat because Lulu is aware that he knows the truth.

BLQ did not know if she gave birth to a boy or a girl, but Lulu informed her that based on the notes in Martin Gray’s (Michael E Knight) office, the baby was a boy.

Will Rena Sofer Ever Return As General Hospital's Lois Cerullo?

Lulu also revealed that Lois was at Martin’s office, so Brooke Lynn knew her mother was up to something. She might think her mom is trying to locate her son, but Lois has always known that Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Maza) is her grandson.

The truth will rock Port Charles

When this bombshell is revealed, Lois may be run out of Port Charles by Gio’s angry relatives. In addition to Dante and Brooke Lynn being angry, there are others who the news will shock.

He has been calling Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) “Uncle Sonny,” but he is his grandfather, as is Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth).

Tracy Quartermaine is Gio’s great-grandmother, and Olivia Quartermaine is his other grandmother. Ned and Olivia share a grandson, and they were nto aware of it.

Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) will be shocked to find out how deep his wife’s relationship with his best friend really went.

Is this Rena Sofer’s swan song?

Lulu pointed out that BLQ’s son would be a half-brother to her and Dante’s son Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr), so this situation is far-reaching. Lois set up an adoption with her family members, and they both are now dead.

Gio says he never knew his father but is happy to carry his name. There is no way Lois can talk herself out of this one because so much time has gone by, and there will be so many hurt feelings.

Lois and Olivia are good friends, so their relationship will be affected. No one will be able to accept that Lois kept her mouth shut for two decades and kept Gio’s family from knowing about him.

Everyone in the Q home is bonding with Gio but has no idea why they love him so much. Soaps can turn anything around, but if Rena Sofer is going to leave General Hospital, the fallout from Gio’s paternity would be an excellent way for her to exit.
