General Hospital

Sad News: The heartbreaking true story behind Sam’s ‘I Love You’ sign on General Hospital will bring you to tears.

Fans wondered whether or not Sam giving the ASL symbol for “I love you” was improvised or scripted, and Monaco responded.

The time is near. On General Hospital, Sam has been wheeled to the operating room so she can donate part of her liver to save Lulu. Her closest family and friends were on hand to share their love and wish her well.

Before the gurney rounded the final corner taking her out of view, she held up her left arm, with her fingers positioned in the American Sign Language sign for “I Love you,”

and then she was gone. Fans wondered if that was scripted or improvised.

Standing With Kelly

On X, formerly Twitter, a fan whose user icon is a red circle with Kelly Monaco’s (Sam) picture and the words, “I stand with Kelly,” written around the inner perimeter.

The hashtags #IStandWithKelly and  #SaveSam have been the rallying cries for fans who are livid that Monaco was unceremoniously let go from the show, and were included as part of the fan’s X name above their @ handle.

Sharing a screenshot of Sam’s final moments in the scene with arm extended displaying the ASL sign, the fan sadly wrote, “Ok I really need to know if that “I love you” sign was scripted or if @kellymonaco1 threw that in there for us 😭 #gh #jasam #allthefeels.” Monaco replied, “It was not scripted 😘.” Her follower then responded back with, “🥹 Thank you, had a feeling it wasn’t! I see your 🤟🏼 and raise you a 🤟🏼!”

Tremendous Heartache

Monaco’s fans expressed their outrage that she was ejected from the series while characters like Heather (Alley Mills) were being brought in for major storylines. “Was that seriously her last scene?  Horrible way for her to go out…”

One viewer who expressed the feelings of many by saying they will no longer watch GH responded, “WE LOVE YOU TOO, KELLY ! ♥️ I’d say I’m going 2 miss u on GH, but after watching it for 45 yrs, your departure also marks my departure.

The writers, etc, have had their head up their rear 1 too many times. I’m happy 4 u, getting away from that circus 🤡 U will get so many offers♥️”

Among many responses was the rumor that Monaco and late GH star Billy Miller (ex-Drew) frequently gave that ASL sign to each other. Feeding into that hearsay, they posted, “I think it was for us and #BillyMiller.

Wasn’t that their thing? I know #KellyMonaco has A LOT of te she is gonna spill as soon as she can.”
