Sad News: The Daughters of Days of Our Lives’ Drake Hogestyn Shares Why He Kept His Condition Private

It’s been nearly eight months since Days of Our Lives’ Drake Hogestyn passed away, and though he’s gone, neither he, nor John will ever be forgotten.
Back in April, Hogestyn’s TV children, Martha Madison (Belle) and Eric Martsolf (Brady), formed Hogey’s Heroes, a team walking and raising money for pancreatic cancer research and treatment at the PanCAN PurpleStride.
Dan Feuerriegel (EJ) joined in as co-captain and a slew of Days of Our Lives co-stars and fans turned out to help the cause and honor Hogestyn.
And they weren’t alone, as the late actor’s real life daughters, Whitney Herndon and Alex Corwin joined the team for the walk — and spoke about their dad with Access Hollywood.
“He was positive until the very end,” Corwin shared. “But that was my dad’s personality. He was larger than life. He was Superman.
He never wanted anyone to know that anything was wrong, which is why he kept this so private. We thought that he would defy the odds.
We thought that he would be the guy to beat it, and we held on to hope until the very end.”
And, she added, nearly overcome with emotion, “he tried his hardest.” Though viewers weren’t there for the battle, we could all see how true that was as he fought up until the end to keep John going on Days of Our Lives.
You can see what else Herndon and Corwin had to say about their father, see them connect with Madison and hear Stephen Nichols (Steve) talk about his longtime friend in the video below.
