Sad News: Chris Robinson, General Hospital and B&B Star, Dies at 86

Veteran actor Chris Robinson, best known for his iconic roles as Rick Webber on General Hospital and Jack Hamilton on The Bold and the Beautiful, has died at the age of 86.
The sad news was shared by actor and musician MJ Allen, who revealed that Robinson died peacefully in his sleep on June 9, 2025, at his ranch near Sedona, Arizona. The official cause of death was heart failure.
A Storied Career
Born on November 5, 1938, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Robinson’s career spanned several decades. He began with roles in classic TV series like The Donna Reed Show, Ben Casey, Gunsmoke, and The Fugitive.
He also portrayed Sgt. Alexander “Sandy” Komansky in the final seasons of ABC’s 12 O’Clock High.
However, it was his role as Dr. Rick Webber on GH that made him a household name. Robinson joined the soap in 1978, taking over from Michael Gregory, and played the character until 1986.
His portrayal of Rick, Laura Spencer’s (Genie Francis) adoptive father, involved a dramatic love triangle and gripping storylines with Denise Alexander’s Lesley Webber and Leslie Charleson’s Monica Quartermaine.
Robinson’s departure from GH was marked by a lavish going-away party, and he remained on-screen until December 1986. He returned to GH in 2002, when Rick was murdered in a pivotal storyline.
His last appearance on the show came in 2013, during GH’s 50th anniversary celebration, where he appeared as Rick’s ghost.
More Than a Soap Star
Beyond soap operas, Robinson was also known for his role in a Vicks Formula 44 commercial, where he famously quipped, “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV.”
Robinson’s career extended beyond GH, as he joined the cast of Another World in 1987 as Jason Frame. His soap journey continued with his role as Jack Hamilton on B&B from 1992-96, where he captivated fans by romancing Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) and Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley).
A Life of Family and Legacy
In addition to his extensive acting career, Robinson faced personal challenges, including a legal issue in 1985 when he was sentenced to jail for failing to file income tax returns.
Despite this setback, Robinson’s career remained strong, and he continued to work in television and film. His last acting role was in the 2022 film Just for a Week, where he played Ted Hurst.
Chris Robinson leaves behind his wife, Jacquie Shane Robinson, their children, and several grandchildren. His death marks the loss of a talented actor who made a lasting impact on soap opera history. Soap Hub extends its deepest condolences to Robinson’s family, friends, and fans.
