The actress, who is best known for her role as Sam McCall, was fired from the show earlier this summer. However, Kelly says that her alter-ego became a “character I didn’t recognize,  let alone the audience,” as she says farewell to Sam one last time.

The actress made her remarks in the comments section of a Soap Hub post on Instagram. In the post, Greg Vaughan talked about working with Kelly in the past.

When some critics made some disparaging remarks about her, Kelly shot back with, “‘No primary role’… do your homework. When Billy Miller was fired (as Drew in 2019), Sam’s storyline stopped.”

“Stripping Sam of every characteristic she had. Something I worked for decades to build.”

“Slowly dismantling her, into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience. Call it what you will… retaliation at it finest. I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free.”

It goes without saying that the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter.

Some people even commented with, “If this is the way Frank treats actors who dare to speak up it really makes me want to stop watching.”

“Billy Miller’s mother has said that Billy was fired for standing up for Kelly and paid the price.What is the matter with her other co-stars in that Billy was the only one to stand up for her?”

What’s Next For Kelly Monaco?

Another critic wrote, “Yes, some of the stories for Sam the past few years haven’t been good, but why did Lindsay Hartley make an impact whenever she subbed for Kelly?”

“Her suggesting the character changed after Billy Miller was let go doesn’t add up. Burton returned to GH in the fall of 2017. It was a few months after when Sam was reunited with his Jason.”

And then there was this comment as well: “Kelly quit kissing the ring of the three pets they were why I quit watching . I had no idea they fired Billy Miller. I thought he quit. I personally hope she gets a job making triple her salary.”

Sam and Greg’s Lucky were even together. So, Greg took a moment to share his experience working with Kelly.

In a sweet clip, he reflected on their fun-filled days together, reminiscing how “wild and free and crazy” they were.

Moreover, he mentioned some iconic moments they shared, like their hilarious camping adventure and a steamy jacuzzi scene.

Talk about steamy moments! Vaughan said, “Our time together was memorable and forever a part of my heart. I love my girl Kelly.”

It’s clear these two fellow soap stars had a blast together. Here’s a fun thought: what if Greg could pitch the idea of bringing Kelly on board with DAYS? Wouldn’t that be something?

And speaking of DOOL, there’s been quite a shake-up recently with Arianne Zucker leaving her role as Nicole. Additionally, Zucker won’t likely return.

After all, she departed contentiously due to serious allegations against the show’s former executive producer. However, Nicole definitely needs a recast because she’s such an iconic character.
