“General Hospital” star Kirsten Storms shared an alarming photo after a freak accident.

In her caption, Storms shared the full story behind the freak accident.

“One of those ‘funny story, but not funny when I need coffee’ moments,” she wrote.

“I’ve opened several canisters of @illy_coffee tins and never have the grounds exploded out of that cute metal container. ::sigh:: There is a first time for everything,” Storms continued. “I can say with certainty that I prefer my coffee brewed in hot water (or over ice)…straight from the container doesn’t taste that good.

“In their defense, there is a warning on the lid. It’s written in several languages,” she added in parentheses at the end of her caption.

In the comments section, fans were relieved it was ground coffee on Storms’ face and not a massive bruise.

“Thank god it’s only coffee…but it could have gotten into your eyes! Glad you’re okay!!!” one fan wrote.

“So that’s coffee, right??? Not a bruise??” another fan said.

“Glad it wasn’t a medical emergency,” a third comment read.

Other fans admitted that they thought the photo was from a scene in “General Hospital.”

“I thought it was a GH storyline. I’m thinking ‘who would dare to give Maxie a black eye?’ ” said one user.

Another person wrote, “I thought something was happening to u on GH!!”

Storms has starred on “General Hospital” as Maxie Jones since 2005.

Maxie was temporarily recast in 2011, with Jen Lilley playing the part until Storms returned to “GH” the following year.

The actress also took several leaves of absence from “GH” in 2016, 2017 and 2018, each of varying amounts of time, from several days to several months.

In December, Nicole Paggi briefly replaced Storms who had to miss the soap opera for undisclosed reasons for several days.

Storms previously revealed she had bipolar disorder to “GH” co-star Maurice Benard on his video podcast, “State of Mind.”

“I experience anxiety frequently. I have bipolar 1,” Storms said in April 2022. “I easily get frantic about things. I felt flustered, fear and stressed. I am obsessed with being on time. I don’t know if you noticed, but I was exactly on time when I entered the building. I obsessively worry about that kind of stuff. I have had panic attacks about that kind of stuff. My psychiatrist tried to change one of my medications at one point, and I had an adverse reaction to it.”

Storms said that after taking bipolar medication, her mental health improved.

“My life literally just changed,” she admitted. “I felt like a normal person.”
