Last week, many were stunned to learn that Jonathan Jackson would be leaving General Hospital yet again after having returned to the ABC soap for the first time in nearly 10 years.
Along with the big comeback, we had hoped he would remain on the canvas for a longer run. However, that wasn’t the case and now we know why…
Jackson opened up about his departure with TV Insider and explained that it hadn’t been his intention to leave after coming back for nine months.
However, life got in the way and no matter how much the actor and soap tried to make it work, he wasn’t able to stay on longer.
Jackson, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee, found the traveling back and forth to Los Angeles, California to take a toll on his personal life.
Not only an actor, he’s also a husband and father of three and tried as he might, in the end, the new routine, if you will, wasn’t working for his family…
“There were moments where I thought, ‘I think I can find this balance with the family and time back and forth,’” he stated then went on to add, “And then you just have to pray about it and try to do what you feel is right. We gave it our best shot, but we weren’t able to keep it going.”
Family should always come first and we are grateful to have had Jackson back for as long as we did. And as always, we hope to see him pop back into Port Charles again one day.
