‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason Says Final Goodbye To Lifeless Sam In Emotional Scene As Kelly Monica Exits Port Charles-JaSam Broken Forever
‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that while Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) has passed away, Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) love for Sam remains true and real.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Burton Showed Us He’s Emmy-Worthy
Burton, whom many fans complain is stiff and emotionless (hence the Jackal’s nickname, “Stone Cold”), proved himself worthy of an Emmy during the October 31st episode of GH, when Jason said goodbye to Sam, giving JaSam fans a heartfelt send-off.
The way Jason walked into Sam’s room, purposefully not looking at Sam’s lifeless body at first, breathing unevenly and knowing what was to come, was soul-crushing.
Then, when he looks at her to see that her death was real and wasn’t some kind of mistake, it portrays his reluctance to accept that she was really gone.
In a touching scene, Burton sat by her bedside as he cried and talked about how he sees so much of Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) in her, and when he looks at their son, he sees her looking back at him.
He admitted that he believed she would outlive him and remembered how she was always up for a new adventure. Whatever gear he was in, she would always kick it up a notch.
Then Jason took a moment to reflect on his romance and marriage to Sam, and he turned on the waterworks for devasted viewers, especially JaSam fans.
A montage of Jason and Sam with their theme song, “Just You and Me,” played in the background. Jason and Sam met in December 2003 at the PCPD when both were arrested for aiding and abetting Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: “Jason, I Love You, I Never Stopped”
Jason admitted he didn’t like her much at first but then he fell in love with her. There were sad memories, like when Sam lost her baby, Lila. Jason was there to comfort her.
There were also many cherished memories, like their water gun fight, Sam playfully trying to run away from him while she wore her face mask, and their wedding at Noodle Buddha.
He also recounted the emotional scene when he came back to Port Charles after being presumed dead for five years, Sam says to him, “Jason, I love you, I never stopped,” and he tells her he loves her too.
As Jason sat by her bedside, he said tearfully, “I remember it all. I’ll never forget. Promise.” He gently kissed her forehead and slowly walked out of the room. The defining moment that really stood out for GH fans was when Jason cried as he stood outside Sam’s hospital room.
We hardly ever see Jason so emotional, making it more meaningful. It was all so heartbreaking, as Sam’s death felt so final and permanent, even for a soap. It was tragically poignant, but also bittersweet.
GH has ignored JaSam fans since Burton returned to the show in March. The montage and their song playing was like a love letter to JaSam fans, and it was long overdue.
The scenes also really hit home for many people who have experienced the death of a loved one. It’s a shame the soap waited until after Sam’s death to honor JaSam and their fans.
