His character on the soap opera, Nathan West, was killed off. Ryan Paevey opened up about returning to his former soap home and shared an update on his mom’s health.

General Hospital fans were taken by surprise last month when it was announced that Ryan Paevey was returning to General Hospital. He joined the show in 2013 as Nathan West. Nathan was eventually paired with Maxie (Kirsten Storms) before the character was shot and killed in 2018.

The actor recently spoke with TV Guide about his return and his mother’s cancer battle. “Mom’s better to a degree,” he said about her health. He said that the struggles that led him to take a step back from acting have “calmed down.”

Ryan Paevey is excited to rejoin General Hospital. He can’t say much about his return, but did tease fans that it will be good. “We’ve got some fun stuff planned,” he said.

He added, “I wouldn’t come back for something vanilla. It’s going to be a blast.”

He previously shared that General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini reached out about returning to the soap. “We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought if we’re going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline,” Ryan Paevey told Deadline last month.

Ryan Paevey’s first air date on General Hospital hasn’t been revealed yet but he’s already back filming. Britt Westbourne, played by Kelly Thiebaud, was recently revealed as alive after dying on-screen in 2023. Now fans are wondering if Nathan West will be revived too.

Who Ryan Paevey will play in his return to the soap hasn’t been confirmed yet. The actor keeps fans guessing with a social media post asking if Nathan West is back. Maxie recently fell into a coma and was sent off-screen. Kirsten Storms temporarily left the show until later this year. Many fans think that Ryan Paevey’s return has to do with Maxie’s eventual return.
