General Hospital is ABC’s lone-standing soap opera. Even though the soap has weathered many storms, the ratings are still dropping every year. While there are many contributing factors towards that result, fans believe that refreshing the storylines could bring back the much-needed flavor to the soap, which could bump the ratings!
Fans Suggest 3 Storylines To Freshen Up General Hospital
Let’s face it, when a soap has been on for as long as General Hospital has, there is a long list of characters who have been there for decades. And just by virtue of that most of the characters fall in the older age bracket. Thus, one can assume they have all gone through every possible storyline or soapy twist that could exist at least twice!
Thus, fans suggest that it could be time for General Hospital to start establishing a teen scene in PC, so that the new generation could start setting their roots and take over the storyline a few years from now, without alienating the viewers! And of course, to be more relevant to younger audiences.
A Hot New Teen-Scene
We already have some perfect characters in hand, with the likes of Jake, Danny, Rocco, and Charlotte. A Reddit user TG11T suggests that General Hospital could bring back Lila Rae Alcazar, Skye & Lorenzo’s daughter. back in town all grown up. She would make a nice addition to the Dex-Joss-Trina age group.
Or, if the makers want to bring her as a teen, she could fit right in with Jake, Danny, and Charlotte. If Lila does come to Port Charles, it would even open the gates for Lorenzo Alcazar‘s return to General Hospital. Something that fans desperately want!
The Return OF The Jacks Brothers
While there is a large section of the GH fandom that wants to see some fresh faces on the canvas, there are some loyalists who’s rather have some past favs back on screen! It seems General Hospital’s popularity really thrived on the baddies. Apart from Lorenzo Alcazar, many fans are holding the torch for cheeky Jerry Jacks to return!
They feel he would bring back some fun to the fold and shake things up a bit. Some other fans are still pushing for the makers to recast Jasper Jax. General Hospital fans, especially, Carly fans believe that she had the best chem with Jax, and are hoping that the makers would consider bringing the current Brennan actor (Charles Mesure) as recast Jax!
More Nikolas, Ava, and Trina
General Hospital fans want to see more storylines that put Trina in the center. Ever since Nicholas Chavez exited the soap as Spencer, Trina’s story has taken a backseat. Fans want to see Trina in the front seat again, perhaps with a new romance, or a recast Spencer. The debate on that is still on!
Ava has been on the screen a lot off-late but for all the wrong reasons. In fact, General Hospital is continually painting her in a corner, and fans are not happy with that. They want to see Ava in a bad-a$$ avatar. As for Liz, the fandom feels she should be cut loose from Finn and be paired up with Nikolas (Adam Huss), Who by the way should return full-time to the soap.
Apart from the above, the whole General Hospital fandom unanimously agrees that the makers need to put some more effort in rewiring the existing storyline with the existing characters. If they fix that, they may not even need new faces or past ones for that matter!
