General Hospital Confirms Big Changes Amid Explosive Storylines As Revolving Door Of Writers Continues
General Hospital spoilers and news reveals there have been even more behind the scenes changes as writers recently have gone, some have come back, and others promoted.
This has all been going down during GH’s explosive storylines, meaning some have zigged when viewers thought they’d zag, with some continuity errors.
General Hospital Spoilers – Mulcahey Out, Van Etten Back In, Korte Staying , LePard Promoted
In May, it was reported that Patrick Mulcahey, who served as co-head writer, was let go from his position after just over three months.
At the time, Elizabeth Korte was brought on with Mulcahey-he’s gone, but she is staying. Chris Van Etten had been replaced with Mulcahey but now he’s reinstated as co-head writer with Korte.
The beloved soap opera officially announced Van Etten’s return to Soap Opera Digest on Wednesday, August 7, following keen observations from dedicated fans who noticed updates in the end credits.
Furthermore, Cathy LePard, who has been a script and breakdown writer for General Hospital, has received a well-deserved promotion to associate head writer.

In 2017, Van Etten took on the role of co-head writer after Jean Passanante’s retirement, collaborating with Shelly Altman until her departure in 2019.
Following Altman, Dan O’Connor joined Van Etten as co-head writer until January 2024, when both were released and succeeded by Mulcahey and Korte.

Of course, with so many writer switcheroos some storylines started one way and seem to be ending another, leading to some minor continuity errors and unexpected conclusions.
One recent storyline that may ban e excellent example of that is what started as a custody battle storyline regarding a surrogate pregnancy.
It started with Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) carrying a baby for TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) and her sister, Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos).
In the meantime, Molly’s lawyer father Ric Lansing ( Rick Hearst ) was announced returning and assumed for the custody battle between the sisters.
The storyline was heading for a custody battle where Kristina would refuse to give Molly and TJ their baby, but instead, the baby died due to Kristina’s fall!
