As predicted, the Monday, July 28th episode of The Young and the Restless, saw the demise of the character of Chance Chancellor ending the run of Conner Floyd in the role. However as previously reported, Conner is already taking all-new episodes of Days of our Lives in the role of Chad DiMera replacing Billy Flynn. In a twist of fate, since Flynn is now Cane Ashby on Y&R, Chance’s final moments were dying in the arms of Cane.

In story, Carter (Vincent Stalba) who had been holding Lily (Christel Khalil) at gunpoint, lets her loose. Chance is trying to nab the guy as Carter tells Cane he made this place everything he could have wanted, but it was all for nothing. When Carter decides to end Cane’s life, Chance rushes in and he and Carter fight over the gun and it goes off. Later, Carter takes his own life.

Conner Floyd has been playing Chance  since 2021. The role was previously played by John Driscoll, Justin Gaston and Donny Boaz. Sadly, Y&R’s decision to kill-off Chance instead of recasting the part, marks the end of the era and one of the last ties to the legendary Chancellor family led by the iconic Jeanne Cooper (ex-Katherine). Chance was the biological son of Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz) and was the grandson of Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton).

In an Instagram post on Monday, Floyd shared, “It’s been real GC. What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hard working actors, creatives and crew members. This is without a doubt a special place. I’m grateful to have been a part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and that has such a stellar, die hard fan base. Thank you for accepting me. Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly. It’s been an absolute honor to represent the Chancellor legacy. Detective Chancellor, over and out.”
