C’mon, Already! General Hospital’s Josh Kelly Breaks Down the Hold-Up to the Big Cody/Mac Reveal
Now that John J. York is back as Mac on General Hospital — and cheers to that! — the time has come for Cody to reveal their connection. But as we’ve already started to see on air, it ain’t necessarily gonna happen anytime soon. Why, when Mac likes Cody now, and Cody admires Mac? Ironically, that is why!
“Cody’s feelings toward Mac’s family have gotten deeper, and he’s really entrenching himself into their lives, so it’s like he’s digging his own grave [the longer he keeps the paternity secret],” Josh Kelly tells Soap Opera Digest.
You’ll recall that the character wasn’t exactly introduced to Port Charles as the most stand-up guy ever. Two years later, Cody is still “really ashamed of what he did, and now he feels like more of a liar, you know? He lied about the paternity test, and sometimes it feels like it’s easier to live in a lie,” Kelly suggests. “He’s got a good thing going, everyone’s getting along right now, and he knows that if he tells the truth, it’s gonna cause chaos and it might cause irreparable damage.”
Odds are, Cody’s worrying for no reason. After all, Port Charles is a town in which until recently, Sonny was cohabitating with his ex-girlfriend’s murderer. Laura and Kevin managed to stay married even after he hid away psycho brother Ryan for years. And Alexis and Sam remain tight even though the latter once slept with Mom’s husband. Anything is possible — especially forgiveness.
