BREAKING NEWS! General Hospital’s Adam J. Harrington Confirms Exit – John ‘Jagger’ Cates Officially Done With GH
Following weeks of rumors, the Friday, August 30 episode saw what is likely the end of the road for actor Adam J. Harrington on ABC’s “General Hospital” after his character, John “Jagger” Cates, was killed off.
During a face-off with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), John confronts the mobster, telling him he should turn himself in by confessing to his crimes.
Unfortunately for the FBI agent, Sonny had the upper hand, informing John that he made a mistake by going after his family, something the coffee importer/exporter had warned him about previously. In the end, Sonny shoots two bullets into John as the rain pours down over them.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) after his final episode aired, Harrington seemingly addressed his exit, captioning the post, “Good night all……” The post was accompanied by a photograph of a sunset.
Separately, in a post on his Instagram story timeline, Harrington re-shared a screengrab from the show by another user, adding a caption that said, “My only scene with Evan Hofer!!!” referring to his first time appearing in a scene opposite his co-star since first joining the soap opera seven months ago.
Before joining the cast of “General Hospital,” Harrington had already made a name for himself in Hollywood and abroad, including appearances in such shows as “The Outer Limits,” “Queer as Folk,” “Dexter,” “The Secret Circle,” “The Mob Doctor,” “Drop Dead Diva,” “Bosch,” “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Palm Royale,” among numerous other credits.
Harrington first appeared in Port Charles on the Friday, February 2 episode of “General Hospital” when viewers were re-introduced to Jagger, now going by his first name, John, as he met Carly (Laura Wright) outside of the newly christened Bobbie’s eatery, which is named after Carly’s late mother, Bobbie Spencer (played by the late Jacklyn Zeman).
Prior to Harrington’s portrayal, the John “Jagger” Cates character last appeared in Port Charles in 2008, albeit on the spinoff series “General Hospital: Night Shift,” with original portrayer Antonio Sabato Jr. returning.
