Alison Sweeney Celebrates Days Of Our Lives 60th Anniversary
On Saturday, Access Hollywood shared an interview with Alison Sweeney who remembered her TV stepfather, Drake Hogestyn. They interviewed her for the Days Of Our Lives 60-year reunion.
She portrayed Sami Brady for over 3,600 episodes, coming back even after leaving the fan-favorite soap.
Firstly, she revealed that she loved the series and admitted that she wanted to be on the series for years.
She would set up her VCR to record Days, hoping her brother would not change the channel and mess up the recording. Therefore, when she was 16 and got a chance to audition for the soap, she admits she was in awe of the actors she worked with.
Days Star Remembers Drake Hogestyn
When she returned for the 60-year anniversary episode, Alison Sweeney found the experience to be so emotional. That is because they are filming without Drake Hogestyn. “It’s so hard. We miss Drake so much and I think ab out him all the time.”
Describing her and her tv siblings as “his kids,” he was very close to the cast. But on the series, Ali reminded soap fans that “Sammy had a really conflicted relationship with John. She was so mean to him the entire time I was on the show and they kind of made up.”
Alison Sweeney Shares Sweet Story About Drake Hogestyn
Besides sharing what it was like working with Drake Hogestyn, Alison Sweeney shared a sweet story about working with him. She started out by sharing how she was “klutzy in real life.”
Therefore, the running joke was that when she was holding a champagne glass, everyone would be concerned that she would have an accident. This is really a dangerous problem as the champagne corks are always popping in the soap world.
One time, disaster struck and she broke the glass. She recalled that “Drake made me sit down and picked the glass out of my shoes and just jumped into dog mode and into hero mode and saved me before anyone else.”
