Breaking New! Here’s How Days of Our Lives’ Stephen Nichols Spent The Soap’s Dark Week
The good side of humanity continues to emerge in the aftermath of the LA Wildfire. Many stars have stepped forward and lent a hand in various ways to families that were victims of the catastrophe.
Among them was Days of Our Lives star Stephen Nichols who took advantage of the show’s break period, and jumped in head first to help those in need.
A Real-Life Hero
While Steve has been one of the major heroes in Salem for decades, his portrayer Stephen Nichols also leaped into action. He wrote on Instagram, “It’s been a heartbreaking few weeks here in Los Angeles.
While I’m beyond grateful that my family and our home are safe, my heart aches for friends and neighbors who are struggling.
Last week, with #Days on hiatus, I found myself with some free time— so I made some calls and signed up to make deliveries of essentials for families in need.”
Nichols continued, sharing his gratitude, “Thanks to Junaid at @ketchumdowntownymca, for giving me the opportunity to help out, as well as @ymcla and @pasadenaymca.
It was uplifting to see so many kind, dedicated people working hard to help others recover from this unimaginable loss.”
The show has taken brief hiatuses several times over the years, and considering they are several months to a year ahead of the broadcast schedule, a minor production halt was a welcome break for the cast and crew.
The Fan Love Was Enormous
Nichols had included a few pictures in his post depicting the loading of supplies into his vehicle, him behind the wheel ready to disseminate the much-needed goods, and a tent with the words, “California Love, California Strong” on it.
One fan lovingly commented, “So happy to hear you are safe. We’ve all been so worried about everyone. Praying that everyone gets the help they need. Thank you for always helping others. Love you and Mary Beth [Kayla] .”
Many followers shared their love for Nichols and their appreciation for his generosity in using his time off from work to help others.
Another fan who could relate to a disaster responded, “How kind of you to get involved and help out. It means a lot to those in need!
I am in NC where Helene left so many in need so I know personally how much that means! .” Many fans were further happy that he and his family were safe, and even the Ketchum-Downtown YCMA sent thanks back with: “Thank you for all of your help last week! .” (Find out how Nichols and Evans celebrated the show’s 59th anniversary.)
