BIG NEWS! REJOICE General Hospital fan-favorite and sibling to Hollywood icon to make epic return to show 30 years after debut
GENERAL Hospital showrunners have dug up an old character on the long-running soap opera to bring back to the show.
General Hospital has been delivering daytime drama on television since the 1960s.
A familiar face that will soon be back on the show, reprising her role as Gloria Cerullo, is actress Ellen Travolta, 84.
She’s the sister of Hollywood movie star John Travolta, 70.
Ellen’s reappearance as Gloria is befitting since her granddaughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) is marrying fiancé Chase (Josh Swickard).
Gloria (Ellen) is set to go back to Port Charles to attend her granddaughter’s wedding.
Ellen’s upcoming stint on the General Hospital series will be brief.
She debuted as Gloria on the show in the 1990s, coming back in 2023 as the same character for a few episodes.
Amanda is most likely happy to be working with Ellen again, given their special bond.
“We fell in love immediately,” she told Michael Fairman TV after filming together last year.
Amanda continued: “What’s crazy is my maternal grandmother was Grandma Gloria. I had her till I was 30 and we were so close…
And then in meeting Ellen, she looks like my grandma – same haircut, same high cheekbones. It really did feel like I had a few days with my grandma. It was very, very special for me.”
CHANGING CAST
General Hospital’s cast is ever-changing.
In December 2023, actress Courtney Fulk appeared on General Hospital following the show’s cast shakeup.
Soap Opera News revealed that month that Courtney will temporarily replace actress Eden McCoy as Josslyn Jax.
Courtney debuted as Josslyn on an episode of General Hospital in December.
FILLING IN
No information about why Courtney is filling in for Eden has been given.
However, there is a chance it might have something to do with Eden losing her mom.
Eden revealed on social media in November 2023 to share with fans that she had lost her mom to cancer.
Even though Eden isn’t going to be on the show for a time, she still made sure she didn’t miss the 2023 Daytime Emmy Awards.
This year, Eden won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Young Performer in her role as Josslyn.
In July, ABC executives wasted no time replacing the latest actress who portrayed General Hospital character Molly Lansing-Davis, Mia Kriegel, though they had just hired her.
