General Hospital

After 11 Years, Beloved General Hospital Star Faces a Heartbreaking Exit—What the Writers Have Planned Will Leave Fans in Tears 💔

General Hospital has spent time building up Drew (Cameron Mathison) to fit the bill as the master manipulator and menace to everyone in Port Charles, instead of who he once was when Billy Miller played the role. As time goes on — and his actions take him further off the rails — General Hospital has the opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade with one of the most hated characters on the popular ABC soap opera. It’s time for General Hospital to make a big move in the most dramatic way possible — by giving us a whodunnit murder mystery with Drew as the victim. With so many people in Port Charles spiraling because of the moves Drew has made, the bevvy of suspects will keep everyone on the edge of their seats.

Tabyana Ali as Trina on General HospitalDrew’s blackmailing of Portia (Brook Kerr) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) has caused chaos for the family, including Trina (Tabyana Ali). With Trina’s concern about Kai’s (Jens Austin Astrup) connection to Drew, she was fired up to learn that something was happening between Drew and her parents. When Kai mentioned overhearing Portia and Curtis talking, she confronted her dad. Armed with anger about Drew using her family, and now Kai, the General Hospital whodunnit storyline is the only way to pack a punch as far as Trina’s involvement.

Everyone Trina loves has been hurt by Drew in one way or another. She sat back and watched as lives around her fell apart, but something changed in her when the congressional representative offered to help Kai. He promised the possibility of playing football again — but it came with a catch. Trina stuck beside her man through the surgery and the filming of the documentary, only to learn that while things improved, Kai would still never play football again. She believed that Kai would turn down Drew’s offer for him to be an intern, but she was sadly mistaken. As Drew continues to manipulate Kai, things get more dangerous for Trina’s parents.

Trina would be one of the last people to be an obvious suspect in a whodunnit murder mystery, but she has the most to lose if Drew’s reign of terror continues. She has kept her cool in situations where she could have lost it. The traumas she has experienced have changed her perspective, especially the loss of Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez). With her parents’ careers and lives on the line, and Kai giving Drew information that could add to their issues, now is the perfect time for Trina to snap and make a bold move.

Trina Isn’t the Only ‘General Hospital’ Suspect

Cynthia Watros and Cameron Mathison as Nina and Drew on General Hospital

The list of suspects for who could/would kill Drew on General Hospital is a mile long. Several people in Port Charles have issues with him for one reason or another, and at the top of the list would be the Corinthos family. Sonny (Maurice Benard), Michael (Rory Gibson), and Carly (Laura Wright) all have reason to want Drew gone from Port Charles — permanently. He ruined Michael and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) marriage, but it didn’t stop there. Drew has played a dangerous game with Michael’s kids, with manipulations and lies along the way to help him sink his claws deeper into Willow. All three have the means and motive, and with the Port Charles Police Department trying to get Sonny put away for good, he would be the prime suspect.

Nina (Cynthia Watros) also has means and motive. She worked incredibly hard to build a relationship with Willow that was pure. It took a long time, but they finally got there, just before Drew moved in. However, he was also sleeping with Nina when he slept with Willow, and it was incredibly soapy. As Nina watches Willow continue to spiral after losing custody of her kids, she is angrier than ever. Nina taking things into her own hands to ensure her daughter stays safely away from Drew and working on building a relationship with Michael and the kids again is another opportunity for the writers to hit a slam dunk. With a friend in her corner like Ava (Maura West), who is also incredibly close to Trina, some damage could be done.

Portia and Curtis would be on the short list. Neither has been known to be violent, but when desperation creeps in, things change. Curtis is already upset that Portia lied about Drew blackmailing her, putting them in the position they are in, but he knows that something needs to be done. With Michael giving him free rein to post what he wants in the paper, things could (and should!) get messy. With Kai telling Drew that Curtis was looking for the female escort he was partying with, more pieces to the puzzle are coming together that could tie into a whodunnit murder mystery.

With July sweeps around the corner, the General Hospital writers have the perfect opportunity to get Drew gone for good. Soap-opera viewers haven’t been keen on the version of Drew that Cameron Mathison is playing, as they have fonder memories of the character from when Billy Miller was in the role. Drew has spiraled into someone Port Charles used to know, and his vengeful nature has made him unappealing to the masses.

A whodunnit is something that General Hospital hasn’t done in a while, and it would be the perfect way to wrap up the chaos that Drew has caused throughout Port Charles. Cutting this Drew and Willow storyline now would open up the door for the General Hospital writers to craft better storylines. The demise of congressional representative Cain would be the best thing to happen to Port Charles in a very long time.
